COVID-19 Risk Dial Remains in Low-Yellow

Published on April 27, 2021

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) today announced that the COVID-19 Risk Dial will remain in low-yellow for a second consecutive week.  The yellow level indicates that the risk of the virus spreading and the impact on our community are moderate.  On the color-coded dial, red represents the highest risk of COVID-19 spread, and green represents the lowest risk. The dial is updated every Tuesday.

The position of the Risk Dial is based on multiple local indicators and information from the previous three weeks:

  • The number of new weekly cases increased from 264 the week ending April 17 to 301 the week ending April 24, but the overall trend is encouraging.  The number of new weekly cases has steadily declined since early February.
  • The community positivity rate increased from 6.3 percent the week ending April 17 to 7.3 percent the week ending April 24.
  • The seven-day rolling average of total COVID-19 patients hospitalized locally increased from about 26 the week ending April 10 to about 34 the week ending April 24.  But the number of Lancaster County patients declined from about 22 the week ending April 10 to about 20 the week ending April 24.
  • No local COVID-19 deaths have been reported since April 19.
  • About 46 percent of the local population age 16 and over is fully vaccinated.
