LTU Celebrates National Public Works Week May 16 Through 22

Published on May 17, 2021

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today invited residents to celebrate National Public Works Week, May 16 through May 22, to recognize and honor LTU’s essential workers. This year’s theme is “Stronger Together.”

“I am so proud of our LTU team as they continue providing efficient, safe and sustainable services to the public,” said Director Liz Elliott. “This week offers residents an opportunity to thank those who continue to provide us with the daily conveniences that make all our lives a bit easier.”

Elliott said LTU team members value the Lincoln community and the role they play to keep residents safe and operations functioning smoothly.  From the moment residents wake up in the morning until they go to bed at night, LTU staff are working diligently to provide, maintain, and improve the systems and services vital to our quality of life, Elliott added.

“From water, sewer, stormwater drainage, solid waste, recycling, transit services, fleet maintenance, traffic signs and signals, to the design, construction, and maintenance of our street transportation system, we depend on our LTU teammates,” Elliott said. “These services are crucial to the safety, health, quality, and conveniences of the public’s everyday lives.”

The community is encouraged to celebrate Public Works Week by safely sharing photos of LTU staff working in the community this week and tagging LTU’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.  Join us in thanking our teammates by tagging us at @LTULNK and @LTULincoln.
