Closures on North 27th Street Begin May 10

Published on May 06, 2021

Beginning Monday, May 10, North 27th Street between Theresa Street and Old Dairy Road will have lane closures for bridge repairs over Salt Creek. Left and right-turns may be restricted at times during this work. Fairfield Street will have limited access but traffic on North 27th Street will be maintained. This work is scheduled to be completed in September.

The pedestrian and cycling trail at North 27th and Fairfield streets will periodically close during the project. The recommended trail detour is to follow North 33rd Street, Superior Street, North 27th Street, Fairfield Street, North 20th Street to Cornhusker Highway and the reverse. Bus stops on StarTran route 27-North 27th will be affected during this work. Lincoln Electric System customers are encouraged to use North 20th Street to and from Fairfield Street.

Digital signs will alert traffic to the upcoming work and closures. Drivers are encouraged to seek an alternate route and are reminded to exercise caution around work zones. Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) appreciates the public’s patience during these projects. LTU project dates and times are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
