The posted speed limit on all interstate highways is determined by the State of Nebraska. All other speed limits of streets within the City Limits will be determined by the City of Lincoln. Typically, the posted speed limit on residential streets, residential "Collector" streets and streets within the congested districts (Downtown, Havelock, University Place, etc.) is 25 mph. On the remainder of "Collector" streets and some arterial streets is 30 mph and on the remainder of the arterial street system is 35 mph, 40 mph, 45 mph or 50 mph. A maximum posted speed limit of 50 mph is used only along some major routes at the edges of the City.
