What Does This Bond Issue Include?

This bond issue will provide for:

  • design and construction of ten urban storm drainage projects (listed below)
  • preliminary engineering for urban watershed in the 56th and Morton area (listed below)
  • stream rehabilitation and waterway work on Parks property (listed below)
  • design and construction of six projects in master planned basins (listed below)
  • water quality projects incorporating best management practices
  • preliminary engineering for basin master plans to model drainage and determine future projects

What Will These Projects Do?

The improvements will:

  • help protect neighborhoods and properties from stormwater runoff and flood damage when major rains occur
  • reduce flooding impacts from major stream channels
  • prevent or repair degraded stream channels
  • improve water quality

What is the Impact on Taxpayers?

Approval of the bond issue gives the City the authority to issue general obligation bonds and levy an annual tax rate to finance the projects. Assuming the current interest rates, this bond issue will cost the owner of a $150,000 home about $5.73 per year.

  • Holdrege, 38th to 40 area

    replace and extend undersized drainage system to reduce flooding impacts

  • 50th and Pioneers area

    extend drainage system to reduce flooding impacts

  • 9th and "N" area

    rehabilitate drainage system due to structural concerns

  • Fletcher, 57th to 63rd area

    rehabilitate open and closed drainage system due to frequent street flooding

  • 48th and Cornhusker highway ditch liner

    repair concrete liner due to structural failures

  • 70th and Yosemite area

    construct drainage system to reduce flooding impacts

  • 27th and Bradfield area

    extend drainage system to reduce flooding impacts

  • Antelope Creek "A" Street culvert enhancement

    add additional openings under "A" Street at Antelope Creek and associated projects to reduce overland flooding

  • NW 4th and Harvest area

    rehabilitate undersized drainage system to reduce flooding impacts

  • Miscellaneous repairs

    rehabilitate 8th and Park, W. Superior (49th to 50th) and other failing drainage systems

  • 56th and Morton Area preliminary engineering

    study of watershed to address frequent flooding issues

  • Tyrrell Park

    rehabilitate channel and improve water quality

  • Bethany Park

    repair block wall on south side of the channel

  • Little Salt Creek

    construct grade control projects

  • Stevens Creek

    construct stream stability project near Van Dorn and S. 98th St.

  • Deadmans Run

    build small flood control project in Seacrest Park

  • Middle Beal Slough

    construct flood reduction project

  • Beal Slough

    build stream stability project in Tierra Park area

  • Antelope Creek

    construct water quality project in the Antelope Creek basin
