Lincoln Water System (LWS) officials report that a contractor hit a private water service line today on S.W. 40th south of "O" Street, causing the City's water system to briefly lose pressure in two areas south of West "A" Street:
City crews quickly isolated the damaged line, and the complete loss of pressure was quickly restored. LWS and health officials have determined that the water supply in those areas was not compromised, and the affected households do not need to boil their water. The Public Works and Utilities Department is working with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department and the Nebraska Health and Human Services to perform additional sampling to ensure the integrity of the water service and protection of public health.
