The first phase of the West "O" Street pavement repair project from N.W. 28th to 3rd streets has been completed ahead of schedule as Lincoln's "Summer of Progress" continues. The second phase of West "O" Street repairs will begin Monday, October 12. Street crews will use a new asphalt mix designed to fill wide cracks, potholes and minor pavement defects that do not warrant concrete pavement repairs. Use of the material has proven to be a cost effective approach that prevents water infiltration, restores ride quality and preserves the life of the pavement. Application procedures are similar to typical crack sealing operations and allow repairs to be made with temporary lane closures and few traffic delays.
