Beginning Monday, July 24, southbound traffic on S. 27th Street between Laurel and Calvert streets will be diverted to the center-turn lane for a water main project. Two-way traffic and access to driveways in the project area will be maintained. The project is expected to take four weeks to complete.
The project includes transferring residential water lines to a new water main and abandonment of the old main along the west side of S. 27th Street between Calvert and Laurel streets. Public Works and Utilities also will install a new water main on the north side of Laurel Street across S. 27th. Laurel Street will be closed at S. 27th, but access to driveways will be maintained via 29th Street during the project.
The work may require some disruption to City-owned portions of the right of way (between curb and sidewalk) in the area. These areas will be restored at no cost to residents. Functioning sprinkler systems will be repaired if impacted by the construction.
