The Pioneers Park Nature Center invites the public to two bird-themed programs in February:
Saturday, February 3, Art Class! Drawing Birds, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Learn the basics of drawing birds in pencil from artist Glenda Dietrich Moore. All supplies will be included for this class, and no previous drawing experience is necessary. This program is designed for adults and for children in third grade or older. The program fee is $13 per person, and the registration deadline is January 31.
Saturday, February 17, the Great Backyard Bird Count, 9 to 11 a.m.
Representatives of the Wild Bird Habitat Store will be on hand for the annual bird walk and count event. This national program, established by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, is great for birders of all levels. Participants will meet at the Chet Ager Building, watch the feeders and then enjoy a hike, weather permitting. The suggested donation is $5, and the registration deadline is February 14.
