Open House for Pine Lake Road Project is February 13

The public is invited to an open house Tuesday, February 13, on the Pine Lake Road widening and safety improvement project, which is scheduled to begin in March. The event is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Humann Elementary School, 6720 Rockwood Lane. The open house will not include a formal presentation.

The project between South 61st Street and Highway 2 includes widening the street from two to four lanes; adding roundabouts at Blanchard Boulevard and South 70th Street; railroad crossing gates; pedestrian and bike trail under crossings; ADA-accessible sidewalks; and street light upgrades. Construction is expected to be completed in September 2019, and Pine Lake Road will be temporarily reopened through the winter. The project was coordinated around Yankee Hill Road improvements in 2017.

At the open house, the public can review final designs and the anticipated work schedule for the two-year project. City staff and representatives from Schemmer and Associates, and K2 Construction will be available to answer questions.

For project information, contact Zach Becker, Public Works and Utilities Department, 402-613-3763, zbecker@lincoln.ne.gov or visit lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: Pine Lake).
