Periodic lane closures will begin September 4 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 34 and West Fletcher Avenue. Traffic will be maintained in all directions during the improvement project, which will continue through October. Motorists will be advised of the closures as required. No lane closures will occur on Husker home football game weekends.
The addition of turning lanes on southbound Highway 34 and eastbound W. Fletcher Avenue is designed to increase safety and help traffic flow. Other improvements include resurfacing Fletcher Avenue between Hwy 34 and W. 1st Street, adding ADA-accessible sidewalks and upgrading street lights.
