Explore, Experience and Enjoy FREE Activities in the Parks!

The Play in the Parks events initiated in the summer of 2016 to provide free community events focused on wellness throughout Lincoln. It's sister program, Party in the Parks, started in 2013.

Special Events

Lincoln Play Day!

Walk the woods park loop and play on the way!

Wednesday, August 8, 2018
Time: 5-7pm
Woods Park, 33rd & “O” Street

We have a wide variety of fun activities for kids of ALL ages, from 2 to 92! All activities at the park are free!

Attendees are encouraged to walk, run and ride to this wellness event. Bike racks are available throughout the park, tennis and pool areas. Parking available in near 32nd and O Streets next to the Health and Parks Administration Buildings as well as Woods Pool and Tennis center parking lots off J Street as well as the Kiwanis baseball field south of Woods Park. Attendees should plan on wearing attire appropriate for physical activity.

Summer Long Programming

Active Living Every Day

Find ways to be active every day: at work, at home, on vacation, etc. You will learn the skills you need to become and stay physically active.

Belmont Family in the Park

Canoeing at Holmes Lake

Dates: May 30, June 27, July 25, August 29, 2018
Wednesday
Time: 5:30-7:30 pm
Get outside and enjoy canoeing on Holmes Lake. Our staff will teach you how to properly navigate the waters. Lifejackets, canoes and paddles are provided for the experience. Meet at the canoe rack on the North side of Holmes Lake, 70th & Normal Blvd.

Crunch and Lunch

Dates: May 29-August 10, 2018
Days:Monday-Friday
Time: 9 am-12:30 pm
Locations: Peter Pan Park (33rd & Y St).
Free Breakfast and Lunch for kids ages 2-18. Free Weekly activities for kids who have completed K-5. Breakfast served from 9-9:30. Lunch served from 12-12:30 at ConnectioN Point (1333 n. 33rd).

Water Fitness -Adult

Ages: 15+ yrs
Last year was a hit, so we brought it back! Get fit and have fun in the water. This class is a bit more intense. Expect to do walking and cardio exercises in the water as well as resistance work for strength building. All activities will be done in the water. Classes are entirely free, we ask that you check in at the front desk before hopping in the pool. For more info, (402) 441-4906.

Bring yourself or the whole family as we explore the joy of underwater hockey, logrolling, water polo, and aqua-quidditch. Two of events will be provided each class. Swimming ability preferred.
