Project Safe Neighborhoods Results

On Friday June 19, 2009, the Lincoln Police Department conducted its fifty-fourth Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) grant detail.

Two areas of Lincoln have been identified as having a higher crime rate with a history of gun related crimes. The two identified areas, located within the Southwest Team, were the focus of the detail. Five Lincoln Police Officers were assigned to the saturation portion of the project. The saturation portion instructs officers to make a high number of contacts of individuals within the target area, demonstrating a "zero tolerance" approach to issues in these neighborhoods. All officers on the saturation detail were in uniform, operating marked police vehicles. Several officers also participated in an undercover prostitution and street crimes operation.
