StarTran will provide bus service to and from the downtown area from 8 p.m. Saturday, March 15 to 2 a.m. Sunday, March 16, the weekend before St. Patrick's Day. StarTran is offering the service in cooperation with Lincoln cab companies to encourage safety and responsibility around the holiday.
Service is based on availability, and the cost is $1.75 one way or $3.50 round trip. Riders can board a bus at designated locations throughout the city beginning at 8 p.m. A list of the pickup locations is available at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: safe ride). Riders also may reserve a time for home pickup by calling 402-441-7110 from noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 10 through Thursday, March 13. Reserved rides to downtown will be scheduled from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 15.
Passengers will be dropped off at one of four downtown locations: 11th and "N," 14th and "O," 14th and "P" or 13th and "Q" streets. Passengers will be instructed where to pick up the appropriate bus for their return trip. Passengers can choose to be returned to their homes or to the pickup location.
Handi-Van service is included and StarTran passes also will be accepted. Handi-Van service will be available to eligible individuals by calling 402-441-7109.
