Bureau of Fire Prevention Operational Permits

There are a variety of businesses where the City of Lincoln will require owners to obtain a permit for activities, operations, practices, or functions. The properties will be inspected annually so they can continue to operate. Operational permits include explosives, health care, mobile home parks, residential congregate living, schools, hazardous materials, hospitals, places of assembly, salvage yard, and spray operations.

The Business Owner must apply for a permit through our VisualVault permitting system. Have the business information, an onsite contact, billing information, and form of payment handy before you start your permit. Submit an Operational Permit

 

Step 1.Review the requirements

There is a variety of businesses where the City of Lincoln will required owners to attain a permit for activities, operations, practices, or functions.   The properties will be inspected annually so they can continue to operate.  Operational permits include explosives, health care, mobile home park, residential congregate living, schools, hazardous materials, hospitals, place of assembly, salvage yard, and spray operations.

Step 2.Make sure you have time to apply

This application will take about 15 minutes once you have gathered the required information and submit your application. You can save your application and resume later if you need more time.

You will need to create an account at VisualVault as a property owner.

Have a credit card or routing and account number handy. 

Step 5.Schedule an inspection

You will be contacted by the Bureau of Fire Prevention to complete this inspection.

Failure to submit satisfactory information or violating the above statements is sufficient grounds to void a permit already issued or to refuse issuance of an operational permit to an applicant. 

Non-compliance with the codes may result in a reinspection fee. 

Step 6.Print the occupancy certificate

Your occupancy certificate will be available on VisualVault to print once your final inspection has been completed.
