Lincoln on the Move is investing in improvements to several streets in the Highlands North Neighborhood:
Improvements will include a mill and overlay of the existing street and inlet repairs where required. Additional work with other funding sources includes a sidewalk extension and signal improvements for the pedestrian crossing at Highway 34 and W Fletcher Avenue, as well as upgrades to curb ramps to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
This project is programmed as a part of the commitment to voters to invest significant sales tax funds into improvement of existing streets. The project will be funded jointly from the Street Improvement Vehicle Tax – Residential Rehab fund (aka-Wheel Tax) and ¼ cent sales tax for streets in accordance with ballot language.
Construction is anticipated to take place in 2027.
Streets will be closed to through traffic during construction. Local access will be maintained to the best extent possible.
Sidewalks and curb ramps will be closed during reconstruction. Sidewalk access will be maintained for pedestrians on at least one side of the street.
