Leighton from 48th to 70th - Street Improvements

Lincoln on the Move invested in improvements to approximately 1.5 miles of Leighton Avenue from 48th to 70th streets. These improvements included concrete pavement repair, removal and replacement of asphalt paving, concrete base repairs and inlet top replacements.

Additional work with other funding sources included the installation of a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) and upgrades to the existing curb ramps to comply with the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

This project was programmed as a part of the commitment to voters to invest significant sales tax funds into improvement of existing streets. The project was funded jointly from the Highway Allocation Funds (aka-Gas Tax) and ¼ cent sales tax for streets in accordance with ballot language.

Schedule

Construction took place in 2024.

Community Engagement

Public Open House
A pre-construction open house was held to provide information regarding the project and to allow the public an opportunity to provide feedback. Design information was displayed and personnel from the project team was present to address any questions, concerns or suggestions which the public may present.
