Leighton from 48th to 70th - Street Improvements

Project Summary

This project will improve approximately 1.5 miles of Leighton Avenue from 48th Street to 70th Street. The project consists of pavement repair, removal and replacement of pavement, public utility adjustments, inlet top, base, median and curb repairs/replacement. A mini-roundabout is currently proposed for the intersection of 63rd Street and Fremont Avenue. Pedestrian curb ramps will be reconstructed to comply with the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

Construction is expected to occur in 2024 but may be adjusted to facilitate other project work in or around this area.

Access During Construction

A full closure of Leighton Avenue will be required during construction. The traveling public is encouraged to find alternative routes and to use the WAZE app for assistance.

Access to sidewalks may be restricted during sidewalk curb ramp construction. One sidewalk path will remain open at all times during construction.
