West Holdrege and Northwest 56th Street Paving Project

This project paved West Holdrege Street from Northwest 56th to Northwest 48th streets, and Northwest 56th Street from West Holdrege Street north to the existing urban paving. Roundabouts were constructed at the Northwest 52nd Street and Northwest 50th Street intersections.

As a part of the City’s commitment in the I-80 West Lincoln Business Center - NW 48th St & I-80 annexation agreement of November 2011 this project will promote private sector investment into the community by improving the safety and capacity of the transportation system. The project will help serve 728 approved additional dwelling units, another 350 potential future units, plus sizable commercial space of potentially over 1,000,000 square feet.

Project Location

Project Funding

This project was approved March 16, 2020 to receive a portion of the 25% of the revenues reserved for construction of new non-residential streets to promote private sector investment after receiving a recommendation from the Advisory Committee on Transportation.

The City already had several annexation agreements with developers regarding new streets in “growth” areas. However, many of these street projects could not get underway due to a lack of funding. The portion of the sales tax for new street construction to promote private sector investment helped move these projects forward.

Schedule

Construction was completed in 2022.
