NW 12th Street Railroad Crossing Removal

Project Summary

The project removed the Union Pacific railroad track railing and adjusted grade elevations of the pavement to allow for a smooth transition. Storm sewer and utility relocation work was also included.

Construction was completed in 2024. Railroad track removal took place in three phases:

Phase 1 – approximately 2 weeks:
Full track removal on Kingbird Road east of NW 12th Street
Phase 2 – approximately 4-6 weeks:
Full track removal on NW 12th Street between W Commerce Way and W Upland Avenue
West half track removal between W Upland Avenue and Kingbird Road
Phase 3 – approximately 3-4 weeks:
East half track removal on NW 12th Street between W Upland Avenue and Kingbird Road
