The City of Lincoln Water System’s Lead Safe Lincoln Lead Service Line Replacement Program helps customers replace older, lead or lead-contaminated galvanized water service lines on their property. The cost of replacement will be fully paid for by the City. Your neighborhood has been identified as a priority area for lead service line replacement through early 2026.
Lincoln Water System will notify property owners that are likely to own a lead or lead-contaminated galvanized water service line and offer to replace it with a copper service line.
A packet will be mailed to property owners with information about this program. The packet will contain a Service Line Verification and Replacement Agreement (SLVRA). By completing this agreement, the property owner is giving permission to the City’s plumbing contractor to carry out a routine inspection and, if necessary, replace the existing lead service line. Completing the agreement ensures your inclusion in the service line replacement program.
In the next few weeks, Lincoln Water System will mail property owners information about the program. Then, the City-contracted plumbers will reach out to begin the replacement process.
