Your organization or business can help reach the City of Lincoln's goal to reduce 80% of the readily recyclable materials from reaching the landfill by 2040. This goal is laid out in the Climate Action Plan and can be found in the reduce waste section. Readily recyclable materials can easily move into the recycling stream with the help of your organization.

The Nebraska Recycling Council has experts trained and ready to help you walk through your business and help you understand what is working well and where your organization can do better. Recycle Lincoln Leadership Program

Businesses and organizations that are demonstrating leadership and working to achieve our waste reduction goal can receive recognition for their efforts. Following completion of a Recycling Leader application and on-site visit, your organization will be designated one of four “Recycle Lincoln” leadership levels.

Bronze

recycles and/or composts 20 to 39% of waste generated

Bronze
Silver

recycles and/or composts 40 to 59% of waste generated

Silver
Gold

recycles and/or composts 60 to 89% of waste generated

Gold
Zero Waste

recycles and/or composts at least 90% of waste generated

Businesses will be recognized

How do we apply?

  1. Submit an application form.
  2. A Solid Waste Management Division representative will conduct an on-site visit to verify your Recycle Lincoln Leadership recognition level. Once a year, you will receive an audit to confirm your recognition level going forward.
