Rose Garden Spring Cleanup

Lincoln Parks and Recreation invites residents to volunteer for a rose garden maintenance project. Volunteers should arrive by 9 AM at the Hamann Rose Garden, just southeast of the South 27th Street and Capitol Parkway intersection and west of the Lincoln Children’s Zoo.

The Lincoln Parks Foundation will be providing a light breakfast.

Staff from the Public Gardens Section, along with the Lincoln Rose Society, will teach volunteers the proper spring pruning and maintenance techniques for various types of roses. 

WHAT TO WEAR/BRING

  • Volunteers are asked to wear appropriate gardening clothing and leather gloves.
  • Leather gloves or long rose gloves are recommended
  • Bring pruners and loppers.
  • A limited number of tools will also be available.

HOW TO SIGN UP

SPECIAL NOTES

  • The length of the project will depend on the number of participants.
  • Staff and volunteers will demonstrate and teach attendees how to maintain their tools and assist with sharpening personal tools.
  • No experience is needed. Lincoln Parks & Recreation staff will be on hand to provide instruction.
