Veterans Day 2023

During an event at the Veterans Memorial Garden so many people stand or sit talking to each other with the Little Sister of Liberty statue in the foreground. There are American Flags posted around the garden.

World War I officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed in June 28, 1919 though fighting had ceased 7 months earlier when the armistice went into effect between the Allied nations and Germany on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. November 11, 1918 is generally regarded as the end of World War I and when Veterans Day is observed. In 1938, the day became a legal holiday known as Armistice Day and would remain until 1954 when the word Armistice was replaced with Veterans to honor those who served in all wars not just World War I.

Veterans Day is a celebration to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
