The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) today announced it will conduct an impaired driving enforcement project throughout August. As part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, officers will work overtime during nights and weekends, when impaired driving is most prevalent. The enforcement campaign is designed to identify and remove impaired drivers from Lincoln streets while promoting safe, responsible transportation choices. Officers will look for drivers impaired by alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both. The overtime enforcement campaign is funded through a grant from LPD’s partners at the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office. The Lincoln Police Department reminds residents that the consequences of impaired driving can be devastating and entirely preventable. Planning ahead can save lives.
