The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) announced it will join a nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” law enforcement effort from Friday, December 1, through Monday, January 1, 2024. Officers will conduct extra enforcement that focuses on impaired driving throughout Lincoln during weekend evenings. The Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office is funding overtime pay for increased enforcement during this campaign. In 2022, LPD investigated 6,906 crashes, of which 330 drivers were cited for DUI. Eight of those drivers were arrested for a felony for causing serious bodily injury to another person. Officers arrested 1,099 people for DUI in 2022. Of those arrests:
