The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) today announced that its Northeast Team will launch a traffic enforcement project in March targeting speeding and impaired driving on “O” Street. This initiative, funded through a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office, reflects LPD’s commitment to improving roadway safety and responding to community concerns about speeding and noise violations, said Sergeant Sara Genoways, Traffic Unit Supervisor.Sergeant Genoways noted that in 2024, LPD issued:
“While these violations occur throughout Lincoln, “O” Street has been a frequent source of citizen concerns. The Northeast Team aims to address these issues by increasing visibility and enforcement in this area. This initiative is designed to hold drivers accountable and create safer roads for everyone,” Genoways said. The Lincoln Police Department encourages drivers to observe all traffic laws and reminds residents that safety is a shared responsibility.
