LPD Announces Impaired Driving Traffic Enforcement Project Results

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) today announced the results of a specialized traffic enforcement project that focused on impaired drivers. The effort was part of the nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign and was conducted throughout Lincoln from August 18 through September 4.

LPD assigned additional officers to conduct high visibility traffic enforcement to help deter impaired driving that coincided with the Labor Day holiday weekend. Officers engaged in a zero-tolerance approach to drivers under the influence of alcoholic beverages and/or drugs, while also watching for other traffic and safety violations. The project was funded through a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
