LPD Announces Southeast Construction Traffic Project | August 2025

Published on July 30, 2025

The Lincoln Police Department today announced it will begin a traffic enforcement project in August focused on unlawful driving in street work zones.

Conducted by Southeast Team officers, the project is in response to complaints by residents regarding illegal turns within construction areas, speeding through work zones and other unsafe practices that endanger drivers, pedestrians and the crews striving to improve Lincoln’s infrastructure.

These dedicated patrols will allow officers to address violations directly without being diverted by other calls for service. The overtime hours will be funded via a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.

Drivers are reminded to slow down, pay attention and obey all traffic laws, especially in construction zones. Enforcement will be ongoing and focused. Residents are encouraged to report issues that would benefit from additional law enforcement presence to the Lincoln Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit.
