UPDATE (September 23, 10:55 a.m.) | Officers have reopened 'O' Street.
*** The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is investigating a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. On Tuesday, September 23, around 5:45 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of NW 22nd and West ‘O’ streets on the report of a pedestrian struck by a pickup truck. The preliminary investigation determined a Lincoln man in his 50s was crossing ‘O’ Street northbound when a gray 2013 Ford F-150 struck him. Lincoln Fire & Rescue took the man to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His identity is being withheld pending family notification. At this time, drugs, alcohol and speed are not suspected to be factors in the crash. Westbound traffic on O Street at NW 20th Street is currently closed while the scene is being investigated. LPD is also diverting westbound traffic off ‘O’ Street at Sun Valley Blvd. The investigation is ongoing.
