Published on August 23, 2025
UPDATE (December 19, 9:30 a.m.) | The investigation into the fatal crash that killed 61-year-old Jeffrey Baker of Lincoln in August 2025 has been completed.
Investigators determined probable cause existed that 30-year-old Shaquala Robertson of Lincoln unintentionally failed to yield right of way to Baker, resulting in the collision and his death. Evidence showed speed was not a factor in the crash.
On Wednesday, December 17, Robertson arrived at the Hall of Justice to be fingerprinted, photographed, cited and released for Motor Vehicle Homicide and No Insurance.

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of one man in northeast Lincoln.
Just before 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, officers were called to the area of N. 48th Street and Leighton Avenue for a single vehicle vs. motorcycle crash.
The preliminary investigation determined a white 2014 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by a 29-year-old Lincoln woman, was pulling out of a business lot on the east side of N. 48th Street turning left to go south, when she struck a northbound motorcycle driven by a 61-year-old Lincoln man. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital by Lincoln Fire & Rescue where he died from his injuries. The driver of the SUV did not sustain any injuries.
The driver of the SUV is being voluntarily evaluated by an LPD Drug Recognition Expert, although no impairment was suspected on scene. Any charges are pending the outcome of that evaluation, and the investigation.
The area surrounding the crash scene will be shut down for several hours as investigators complete their work. We ask drivers to find an alternate route to their destination. The victim’s name is not being released at this time. Our thoughts are with all the families impacted.
The investigation is ongoing. Those with information can call our non-emergency number at 402-441-6000 or if you would like to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
