*** ORIGINAL POST (August 28) | The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is conducting two separate investigations into suspicious deaths that occurred on Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27. (C6-072622) On Wednesday morning, LPD responded to a camper fire at 2229 S. 8th Street. 27-year-old Amber Spencer of Lincoln was taken to the hospital with severe burns where she later died from those injuries. (C6-072912) On Thursday morning, LPD responded to the area of 1st and M streets on the report of a body found in a field. A 67-year-old Lincoln man was found deceased on the ground. At this time, we are not releasing his name pending family notification but hope to do so later today. Our thoughts go out to the families impacted by these tragedies as any loss of life is painful and difficult to process. Our work will continue with the goal of bringing them answers, peace and closure as they mourn. Autopsies for both victims are scheduled for Friday morning. Our investigators are working diligently on both cases – conducting witness interviews, requesting and reviewing digital evidence and video surveillance footage, analyzing physical evidence processed by our Crime Scene Technicians from both scenes and more.
