LPD Investigating Fatal Domestic Disturbance | S. 84th & Sandalwood

Published on February 26, 2025

UPDATE (February 28 - 10 a.m.) | The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is sharing more information regarding Wednesday's fatal domestic disturbance, which tragically ended in the loss of a young woman's life.

Our hearts go out the family and loved ones of the victim. We were deeply saddened by her passing Wednesday evening and want to extend our condolences to those mourning her death. We remain committed to uncovering the full truth of what happened as we work diligently to find answers and seek justice in her memory.

LPD is identifying both the victim and the offender in this case. Michelle Gonzalez was just 21 years old. The offender, 28-year-old Ibrahim Alhamadani, was her boyfriend. Both were residents of Lincoln.

LPD understands there was some confusion regarding the nature of their relationship and why it was not released immediately.  Our top priority in any case is the victim and ensuring their family has the time and space to grieve privately before the news is shared with the public.  This is why we typically do not release victim identities until at least 24 hours after they pass, giving their loved ones time to be notified personally.

In this situation, identifying the shooter before Michelle’s family had been notified would have unintentionally revealed her identity prematurely.  We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we navigate this delicate process with compassion and care. The investigation is active and ongoing. Our investigators will work to thoroughly investigate this case and seek the truth.

We would like to direct anyone who is experiencing domestic violence to reach out to the LPD Victim Assistance Unit for help securing a protection order and to our community partners, like Voices of Hope, Friendship Home and others, for access to safety planning, support services and resources. You can also call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233.

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is investigating a domestic disturbance that occurred in southeast Lincoln. On Wednesday, February 26, around 12:30 p.m., LPD officers responded to the area of S. 84th Street and Sandalwood Drive on the report of a female victim being struck by a car.

The preliminary investigation determined after the female was struck, two Good Samaritans picked up the woman to help get her to safety. The car sped after them as their SUV drove down Indian Hills Drive. The car then hit the SUV, causing it to spin out and come to rest in the front yard of a home. The male driver got out of the car, approached the SUV and fired multiple times at the female victim. The man and woman knew each other.

The 21-year-old female victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds and is currently in surgery. The 28-year-old male driver was found deceased at the scene. The two Good Samaritans were not physically injured.

The identities of those involved are not being released at this time, pending next-of-kin notification. One firearm was recovered at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing as officers interview witnesses and collect evidence. Those with information can call our non-emergency number at 402-441-6000 or if you would like to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
