The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) Northwest Team today announced it will conduct enhanced traffic enforcement in June. Officers will work overtime to specifically address traffic concerns reported by community members. LPD reports that a significant number of traffic complaints received by the Northwest Team occur during peak service hours, when officers are often responding to high call volumes. To address this challenge, day-shift officers will remain on duty after their regular shifts to focus solely on traffic enforcement. This strategy allows second-shift officers to continue responding to calls for service while targeted traffic enforcement is conducted concurrently. The goal of this initiative is to improve roadway safety by addressing persistent traffic violations. Community members are encouraged to continue reporting traffic issues and to drive responsibly as officers work to create safer streets for all Lincoln residents. This enforcement project is made possible by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
