The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) Southeast Team today announced it will conduct a targeted traffic enforcement in June. Officers will work overtime to specifically address traffic concerns reported by community members. The initiative comes in response to numerous complaints by community members regarding speeding, reckless driving, disorderly vehicles, and other traffic-related concerns in southeast Lincoln. From January 1 to May 27, the Southeast Team responded to nearly 1,200 vehicle crash reports, the most of any LPD team. This dedicated enforcement project will allow Southeast Team officers to proactively address these issues, with the goal of improving roadway safety, reducing crashes, and ensuring a safer environment for all who travel through the area. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting traffic concerns and to drive responsibly as officers work to make Lincoln’s roadways safer for everyone. This enforcement project is made possible by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
