LPD Traffic Enforcement Project set for March 17

Published on March 01, 2024

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) today announced it will conduct a specialized enforcement project on March 17 focused on impaired drivers and alcohol sales. The effort is to reduce the number of motor vehicle accidents and DUI violations on St. Patrick’s Day, while promoting responsible sales and service of alcoholic beverages throughout the city.

LPD will assign additional officers to each of Lincoln’s four geographic police teams. These officers will conduct alcohol compliance checks at numerous licensed liquor establishments and conduct high-visibility traffic enforcement with emphasis placed on traffic and DUI violations.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation-Highway Safety Office will provide funding for this enforcement project.

LPD urges residents who plan to drink to make arrangements for a designated driver. Those who see impaired drivers are asked to contact law enforcement.
