Lincoln Police Arrest Suspect in Assault and Kidnapping

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) has arrested 36-year-old Dominic Williams of Lincoln for first degree assault and kidnapping of a woman he knows.  

The victim, a 37-year-old Lincoln woman, remains hospitalized with significant injuries. She was severely beaten and presumed deceased when LPD first learned of the attack. She is intubated and officers have not been able to interview her. 

This all stems from recent events that unfolded over the last several days, culminating in a search for the victim and two of her relatives yesterday.  

On Wednesday, October 1, around 8:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to a check welfare for the victim based on a text message with a picture provided to officers that showed her injuries and claimed she had been killed. 

Throughout the morning, the investigation led officers to the area of North 1st and Adams Streets and saw Williams leaving in a vehicle. They pulled him over around 11:50 a.m. and found the victim unconscious in the back seat with injuries reflective of those observed in the photo. She was taken to the hospital by Lincoln Fire & Rescue. He was taken into custody and interviewed by investigators. 

Throughout the afternoon, LPD activated the SWAT Team to make entry into two separate properties, working to locate two relatives of the victim, including a young child. They were found uninjured and determined to be safe around 2:30 PM.

LPD requested North Star High School be placed into Secure for a short time due to safety concerns for students related to those connected to yesterday’s events. At this time, we do not believe any part of the incident happened at or near the school itself. We will continue to collaborate with Lincoln Public Schools during incidents in the community to ensure a safe learning environment for all students and staff.

The investigation into this incident and the events leading up to it is ongoing, including working to determine a motive, when and where the assault took place, and all those involved. We believe this is part of an ongoing dispute between two groups and not an incident of domestic violence.
