Lincoln Police Investigate Fatal Crash | S. 28th & Pine Lake Road

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is investigating a fatal crash that claimed the lives of two people in southeast Lincoln.

Just before 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 14, officers were called to the area of S. 28th Street and Pine Lake Road for a single-vehicle crash involving three Lincoln men.

The preliminary investigation determined a Honda Pilot was speeding west on Pine Lake Road. It left the north side of the road, rolled and hit a tree, ejecting one of the passengers, a Hispanic man, who died at the scene.

The other passenger, a 23-year-old Hispanic man, also died at the scene. The driver, a 34-year-old Hispanic man, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The names of those involved are not being released at this time pending next-of-kin notifications.

Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash. Charges are pending against the driver at this time.

Pine Lake Road will remain closed from 28th to 32nd until investigators complete processing the scene. Drivers are asked to find an alternate route to their destinations. The nearby shopping center remains accessible.
