Lincoln Police Investigate Fatal Crash | 70th & L

UPDATE (December 19, 9:30 a.m.) | The investigation into the fatal crash that killed 75-year-old Donald Wilson of Lincoln has been completed.

Investigators determined probable cause existed that 24-year-old Ahmad Al Kadah of Lincoln was operating his motor vehicle in a reckless manner, with an indifferent disregard for the safety of others, going 72 in a 40 MPH zone, unintentionally crashing the vehicle into another vehicle and causing the death of Donald Wilson, along with serious injuries to his passenger.

On Thursday, December 18, Al Kadah was arrested at his residence without incident and taken to the Lancaster County Jail for:

  • Motor Vehicle Homicide-Reckless/Willful Reckless, NRS 28-306(3)(a) 2) 
    
  • 2nd Degree Assault, NRS 28-309

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is investigating a fatal crash that occurred at the intersection of 70th and ‘L’ streets. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash just after 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5.

The preliminary investigation determined a 2020 black Nissan Kicks SUV driving north on 70th was attempting to turn left onto ‘L’ when it collided with a 2021 gray Ford Explorer SUV driving south on 70th. Witnesses on scene told LPD the Explorer was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic prior to the collision.

The driver of the Nissan, a 75-year-old Lincoln man, passed away at the hospital and his passenger, a 74-year-old Lincoln woman, was treated at the hospital for serious injuries. The driver of the Explorer, a 24-year-old Lincoln man, was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time pending family notification. The investigation is ongoing.
