On Friday, June 27, around 2:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 28th and ‘O’ Streets for a man with a gunshot wound in a parking lot. The victim, a 39-year-old Lincoln man, was taken to the hospital for treatment of a serious injury to his upper left leg.

During the investigation, police determined he was shot behind the convenience store in the parking lot where officers found a 9mm shell casing. Surveillance video showed a white GMC Terrain approach the victim and a single muzzle flash was observed. An individual, later identified as Bryson, then got into the passenger seat of the vehicle, which left the scene. Investigators learned Bryson demanded money from the victim while pointing the firearm at him before shooting him in the leg.

On Tuesday, July 1, investigators located Bryson and the SUV in the driveway of a home in the area of S. 19th and South streets. On Wednesday, July 2, just before 12:30 a.m., the LPD SWAT Team executed a search warrant at the residence. Bryson failed to comply with commands and ran inside an attached garage before being taken into custody. During the search, investigators located a fully loaded 9mm handgun in the garage that matched the ammunition at the shooting scene. They also found a second fully loaded 9mm handgun under the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

LPD would like to thank the Criminal Investigations Unit and SWAT Team for their diligent work on this case that led to identifying and arresting the shooter.
