Published on August 01, 2023

LPD responded to an injury crash at North 27th and Y Streets, at 9:13 p.m., Monday, July 31, 2023. A minivan driven by Caleb Lindley, age 30, was traveling southbound on North 27th Street and allegedly violated the red traffic signal at Y Street. The minivan then struck an SUV that was traveling eastbound on Y Street. The male driver of the SUV, age 31, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene. Lindley was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

At 9:10 p.m., an LPD officer attempted a traffic stop on Lindley’s vehicle, just south of North 27th and Superior Streets, following a report that Lindley was allegedly intoxicated and known to have a suspended driver’s license.

The minivan fled from the attempted traffic stop southbound on North 27th Street at a high rate of speed. The officer did not initiate a pursuit to avoid endangering the public. The officer deactivated his vehicle emergency equipment and the minivan drove out of view of the officer, continuing southbound on North 27th Street until the crash.

A blood draw was later obtained from Lindley. Citations will be issued at a later date as police await toxicology results. No citations were issued to the driver of the SUV. The intersection of North 27th and Y Streets was closed during the investigation, and reopened at 11 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing. Those with information regarding this incident should call the LPD non-emergency number at 402-441-6000. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
