Farmers

In its first year, the Challenge supported 38 farmers and producers, generated 289 orders, and resulted in over $595,000 spent on local food. Producers are invited to join the Challenge as an opportunity to recognize their customers who are purchasing locally. Your participation helps grow a community-wide effort to strengthen Lincoln’s local food system.

Get Involved

As a producer, you can participate in 1 of 2 ways:

  1. Producers working with Lone Tree Foods or Robinette Farms are automatically included in the challenge. No additional tracking is required.
  2. If you don’t sell through the two food aggregators and would like the organizations that you sell with to be recognized through the Challenge, we ask that you track their orders placed and provide proof of purchase.

Steps to Participate

  • Alert your customers about the opportunity to be recognized through the MLFC. Use the Mayor’s Local Food Challenge Promotional Flyer(PDF, 739KB) to share more information.
  • Confirm their interest in participating and complete the MLFC Registration Form on behalf of your customer.
  • Track your customers’ purchases from July 1 through October 31.
  • For each order placed throughout the challenge, submit a MLFC Farmer Reporting Form to record your customer's progress. We encourage producers to complete the form on a weekly basis, so the City can accurately recognized and communicate with your customer.

Reporting Requirements

  • Customer contact information
  • Customer order details, such as the number of orders placed through July-October, and the total spent
  • Proof of purchase
