Parks and Recreation Youth Robotics Programs Begin September 15

The Parks and Recreation Department today announced registration is now open for two robotics programs held this fall at the Irving Recreation Center, 2010 Van Dorn Street. The programs for youth ages 6 through 9 and 10 through 15 begin September 15 and introduce science, technology, engineering, and math concepts through fun, exciting hands-on learning.

Temporary Mahoney Park Playground Closure Begins September 13

The Parks and Recreation Department today announced that beginning Friday, September 13, the Mahoney Park playground, North 70th and Fremont streets, will temporarily close for construction of the new inclusive playground project. Construction of the Mahoney Park inclusive playground will continue through the fall and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2025.

Lincoln City Libraries Hosts Willa Cather Event September 21

City Announces Free and Reduced Cost Bicycle Pass Program

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities today announced a program to provide free and reduced cost bicycle access to transportation-disadvantaged members of the community. The BikeLNK Free and Reduced Cost Pass Program offers 75 free one-day passes and 75 year-long passes for $5.

Portion of 56th Street to Close September 10

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that southbound 56th Street at Leighton Avenue will close at 8 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, to continue work on a Lincoln on the Move street improvement project. Northbound 56th Street at Leighton Avenue will reopen at that time. This work is scheduled to be completed by September 15.

Water Main Repair Closes Portion of Downtown Street

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that a portion of the westbound lanes of “O” Street between 12th and 13th streets are now closed for water main repairs. There will be no left turns allowed from “O” Street to 12th Street. Project completion is estimated to wrap up the week of September 16.
