Residential Plowing to Continue this Weekend

Published on January 29, 2021

City and contractor crews will continue to plow residential streets this weekend, following the storm that left 14.5 inches of snow in Lincoln this week. Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) is currently addressing service requests from residents, as well as re-plowing arterial streets as necessary.

“We are working hard to clear all residential streets after this week’s historic snowstorm,” said LTU Director Liz Elliott.  “Warmer weather is causing snow-packed streets to become slush-covered, creating new challenges. Every storm is different and can bring its own frustrations. Continued weekend plowing will help us move forward.”

A snow removal district parking ban for business areas will be in effect for one more night. From 12:01 to 7 a.m. Saturday, January 30 snow is plowed into rows, loaded into trucks and hauled out of the area overnight. To assist with snow removal, parking is prohibited on both sides of the streets in the districts, and maps of the districts are available at snow.lincoln.ne.gov.

LTU appreciates the public’s patience during this historic weather event. LTU crews are standing by to address any inclement weather this weekend. Residents are encouraged to report a street that may have been missed by plow crews to UPLNK.lincoln.ne.gov.
