Lincoln on the Move Project is Completed Ahead of Schedule
South 48th Street between Highway 2 and Pioneers Boulevard will reopen at 5 p.m. Monday, June 7, nearly two months ahead of schedule. This street has been closed since May 4 for a Lincoln on the Move arterial street improvement project. Temporary lane and sidewalk closures will occur at the South 48th and LaSalle streets intersection for installation of a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB). Through traffic, residential and business access will be maintained during this work.
This arterial street improvement project includes new asphalt pavement, pavement markings, reconstruction of curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act compliance and the installation of a RRFB to increase crosswalk safety.
Lincoln on the Move is a six-year street investment focused on enhancing Lincoln’s street infrastructure. More than 50 street projects are expected to be completed through 2025.
Digital signs will alert traffic to any upcoming lane closures. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution around work zones. Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) appreciates the public’s patience during these projects. LTU project dates and times are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
