Portion of South First Street to Temporarily Close September 8

Published on September 07, 2021

South First Street between “J” and “F” streets will be closed Wednesday, September 8, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for railroad crossing repairs. The sidewalk underpass at First and “J” streets will remain open.

Digital signs will alert traffic to upcoming work and closures. No through traffic will be allowed during this work. Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route and exercise caution around the work zone.

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU), the Railroad Transportation Safety District (RTSD) and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad are coordinating this work to improve the safety, reliability, and longevity of this crossing.

LTU appreciates the public’s patience during this work and reminds residents that project dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
