Snowplow Santa to Visit Lincoln December 9

Published on November 29, 2023

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that Snowplow Santa will deliver holiday cheer from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, December 9. This is the fourth year LTU has organized the free event in partnership with Lincoln City Libraries and the Parks and Recreation Department.

Instead of a sleigh, Santa Claus will ride in an LTU snowplow, wave at residents along the route and make brief stops at three libraries. Families will be able to meet Snowplow Santa and take pictures with him using their own cameras and camera phones.

“As the holiday season approaches, our City team is thrilled to offer this opportunity for adults and children to experience the excitement of meeting Santa. This festive, free event is our way of sharing the holiday spirit and giving back to our wonderful community," said Liz Elliott, LTU Director.

This is an outdoor event with Snowplow Santa visiting a designated area of each facility parking lot. The schedule is as follows:

  • 11 a.m. to noon – Walt Branch Library, 6701 South 14th St.
  • 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. – Gere Branch Library, 2400 South 56th St.
  • 2 to 3 p.m. – Williams Branch Library/Air Park Community Center (Arnold Elementary School parking lot, 5000 Mike Scholl St.)

“Lincoln City Libraries is always thrilled to partner with LTU and Santa Claus to bring joy and tidings to residents throughout our community. Our libraries love hosting Santa and providing Lincoln’s residents with a very merry holiday activity that is fun for all ages.” said Traci Glass, Lincoln City Libraries Assistant Director.

Residents may track Santa’s location on December 9 only by using the snowplow tracker at lincoln.ne.gov/snow. The Snowplow Santa event may be canceled due to inclement weather. For more information on this event, visit lincoln.ne.gov/SnowplowSanta
