Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast Set for May 4

Residents are invited to the 39th annual Mayor's Interfaith Prayer Breakfast, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday, May 4 at the DelRay, 817 “R” St. The theme is “Creating Cultures of Resilience and Peace for our Community and for the World.” Limited seats remain for in person attendance and a virtual option is also available. The event is organized by the Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast Committee and will feature Jerry White, 1997 Nobel Peace Prize recipient and Executive Director of the United Religions Initiative, a global grassroots interfaith peacemaking organization. The program will also feature remarks by Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird, as well as sacred readings, prayers, and music from a variety of Lincoln’s faith and religious communities.

The purpose of the event is to promote unity, understanding, and mutual support among Lincoln’s diverse spiritual and faith traditions. This year’s event will highlight the importance of resilience in overcoming trauma and making a way for peace.
