City Provides Updates on Three Street Improvement Projects

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today provided updates on three street improvement projects, including two funded by Lincoln on the Move. The projects are as follows:

South 27th Street from Old Cheney Road to Coronado Drive – This project was completed a month ahead of schedule, opening to traffic on June 21.

Lincoln on the Move invested in improvements to approximately a half-mile of South 27th Street from Coronado Drive to Old Cheney Road. These improvements included a mill and overlay, pavement repair, public utility adjustments, inlet top and curb repairs or replacement. Additional work with other funding sources included upgrades to the existing curb ramps to comply with the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.

84th Street from Sandalwood to Elizabeth drives – Work on this improvement project continues, with Segment A of the project, 84th Street from “O” Street to Cherrywood Drive, completed and opened to traffic June 19.

This Lincoln on the Move project is investing in improvements to 84th Street from Sandalwood Drive to Elizabeth drives. These improvements include a mill and overlay of the existing surface and concrete repairs. Additional work with other funding sources includes pavement markings and upgrades to the existing curb ramps to comply with the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.

Work on Segment B of the project, 84th Street from “O” Street to Vine Street, began June 19. Segment B work is scheduled to be completed in mid-July, with Segment C work to follow. The recommended detour for this project is North 84th Street to Holdrege Street to North 98th Street to “O” Street.

Indian Village Neighborhood – This project was completed Friday, June 23. The project improved several streets through a mill and overlay of the existing surface and base repairs where required. Additional work included upgrades to the existing sidewalk ramps to comply with federal and local standards.

Streets in the project included:

  • South 15th Street from Burnham Street to Calvert Street
  • South 16th Street from Burnham Street to Cheyenne Street
  • Saint Mary’s Avenue from Burnham Street to Calvert Street
  • South 20th Street from Burnham Street to Calvert Street
  • Nemaha Street from South 14th Street to South 17th Street
  • West Pershing Road from High Street to Woodsshire Parkway

Lincoln on the Move is a six-year street investment effort focused on enhancing Lincoln’s street infrastructure that will dedicate an additional $94 million to street projects in Lincoln through 2025.
