Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird today announced her nomination of Bailey Feit to fill a vacancy on the Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission. If approved by the Lincoln City Council and Lancaster County Board, she would replace current Planning Commissioner Tracy Corr, who is leaving the commission after more than 10 years of service.

“On behalf of the City, I thank Tracy for a generous and impressive decade of volunteer service as a member of the Planning Commission,” Mayor Gaylor Baird said. “In her role, she contributed to the strength of our neighborhoods and to historic levels of growth and development in Lincoln.”

Feit is a College Career STEM Focus Program Coordinator at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. Previously, she was a math teacher at North Star High School for nine years, and an adjunct business professor at Southeast Community College. She has a Master of Education degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Master of Education and Bachelor of Science degrees from Doane University.

“Bailey's diverse professional and volunteer background provides her with a broad perspective on local growth and development, and I thank her for her willingness to serve,” Mayor Gaylor Baird said. “Her experience will benefit our work to further Lincoln’s strong trajectory of growth and our high quality of life.”

Feit currently serves on the Board of Directors and as the Tastes in the Tallgrass Event Chair for the Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center. She previously served on the Board of Directors of Camp Summergold (an arts and science-based camp for girls), as the Treasurer for the Eastern Nebraska Literacy Council, and on the Board of Directors for the Lincoln Education Association.

“I am honored to be nominated by Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird to serve Lincoln and Lancaster County as a member of the Planning Commission,” Feit said. “I look forward to supporting city development and infrastructures that attract young professionals, new businesses, conferences, and keep our city thriving. I will work hard to continue Lincoln’s historic growth while also supporting all the needs in our community.”

The Planning Commission is nine-member body responsible for advising the City Council and County Board on planning and development matters. The Mayor appoints members for six-year staggered terms with concurrence of the City Council and County Board. More information is available at planning.lincoln.ne.gov
