StarTran Transfer Center Relocation set for January 16, 2025

Published on December 31, 2024

The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) transit system, StarTran, today announced that the temporary bus transfer location located at South 11th and “N” streets will relocate to South 11th and “L” streets on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

The move is designed to enhance rider safety and rider amenities and shift operations away from the ongoing redevelopment and construction at the Gold’s Building. The transfer center is scheduled to remain at the South 11th and “L” streets area for an estimated three years while a new multi-modal transportation center is constructed on the block bordered by Ninth, 10th, “G” and “H” streets.

The temporary relocation complies with all federal requirements. Americans with Disabilities Act access to and from bus stops will be maintained throughout this transition. Enhancements and amenities at the new temporary transfer center near the former Settell’s Printing building, 333 S. 11th St., include:

  • Covered waiting area
  • Bathrooms
  • Additional lighting
  • Seating
  • Security staff

“By improving amenities and preserving parking for nearby businesses along 11th Street, we are able to balance rider and community needs,” said Carla Cosier, LTU Assistant Director of Transit.

A StarTran impact study indicated that 4% to 8% of riders may experience delays of four minutes or less due to the relocation. StarTran is informing riders and community members about the relocation through on-vehicle communication, flyers, electronic boards, media, and updated route information on the City website and RideLNK app.
